The Department of Teacher Education and Professional Development at Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland, is seeking an outstanding candidate to fill a lecturer position, beginning with the 2019-2020 academic year. The successful candidate will teach introductory through advanced level physical education content, theory, methods, and activity courses at the undergraduate level.
Applicants must have a Masters Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or supporting areas including activities, fitness or wellness; an emerging scholarship/research program in physical education or related area; advisement and teaching experience in higher education; student mentorship experience in co-curricular activities and/or translation of research to practice; and experience with community service engagement. Willingness to engage diverse content areas and work collaboratively with colleagues.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of five years practical experience in PK-12 physical education. Additionally, the applicant should possess working knowledge of curriculum and instruction, pedagogy, and adaptive physical education. The successful applicant would be required to teach pedagogy and science courses in elementary through secondary physical education at the undergraduate level; to collaborate with the department chair in course and program development, and program review; to assist in the promotion of a vigorous research thrust within the program and provide advisement and mentorship for majors.
