Responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of all student and employee wellness initiatives. Assists in identifying and meeting the holistic health and fitness needs of students and employees utilizing Harper College’s Fitness Center and health resources. Develops programs and marketing initiatives that create awareness, motivation and tools that will assist students and employees in maintaining lifelong wellness that is aligned with integrative health concepts. Works collaboratively with external College partners, vendors, Student Affairs and Human Resources in developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student and employee wellness and success.
Develops, coordinates, manages, and maintains total wellness programming including health awareness educational campaigns, behavior change programs, health assessments/screenings, smoking cessation, and more to reduce health risk, medical costs and encourage healthy lifestyles and promote student and employee wellness and success.
Analyzes college culture, aggregate health screening reports, trend data, and relevant wellness data to leverage the Harper College Health & Recreation Center facilities in targeting major health risk categories as identified; develop appropriate wellness action programs; and implement marketing strategies.
Works in collaboration with Athletics, HR and Student Affairs to integrate and communicate wellness resources and benefits to students and employees.
Develops marketing campaigns to promote a healthy lifestyle or participation in fitness and wellness programs. Integrates and maintains wellness “brand" into current and future program materials.
Implements student and employee wellness awareness programming (i.e. drug and alcohol prevention, stress relief, etc.). Creates an ongoing marketing plan to reach all Harper credit students and develops relationships with student clubs and organizations to assist Centers in producing co-sponsored intramural activities.
Organizes and oversees fitness or wellness events or programs, such as information presentations, blood drives, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or first aid training, health screenings or organized runs or walks. Develop and implement monthly health communications and activities.
Implements a recruitment plan to create awareness and generate student interest in the Health and Recreation Center. Works with student communications officer to update students on HRC events.
Ensures compliance and completes reports for state and federal regulations on wellness education. Completes program review in accordance with ICCB guidelines and HIPAA rules and regulations surrounding the four common types of employer-sponsored wellness programs.
Works with campus recreation professional staff to supervise student aides, who support wellness activities. Coordinates all aspects of wellness programming, including registrations, liability waivers, reservation of facilities, acquisition of equipment (if needed), event marketing and awards.
Oversees budget and resource allocation for effective program operations. This includes maintaining records of expenses and revenues, as well as event attendance. Make budget recommendations regarding wellness initiatives/programs.
Stays up-to-date on current national wellness and wellness initiatives and activities, developing a network of resources and contacts.
Gathers and analyzes data to measure success on wellness programs and initiatives. Compiles an annual comprehensive report that outlines the financial impact of the wellness program.
Coordinates and develop quarterly wellness committee meetings.
Advises student club sports as needed. Serves on College committees, as appropriate.
Summer workload will be expanded to support other student service areas as needed.
Administers special programs and projects, under the direction of the Dean of Student Affairs and Chief Human Resources Officer.
Performs related duties and projects as assigned.
Educational Requirements: Master’s degree in wellness management, health promotion, exercise science, nutrition, nursing, corporate wellness, recreation, sports science, college student personnel or related field is required.
Experience Requirements: Three years’ experience in wellness program design and promotion. Experience with assessment and outcome reporting required. In-depth understanding of wellness programming integration in organizations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to work collaboratively with others.
