The Georgia Military College-Augusta Campus is part of Georgia Military College’s eight campus and seven extensions center system across the state. Established in 1879, Georgia Military Colleges is a coeducational public-independent two-year higher education institution of the State of Georgia and seeks to produce educated citizens by providing our students with a liberal arts based two-year undergraduate curriculum in an environment conducive to the holistic development of the intellect and character of our students.

 

The Georgia Military College-Augusta Campus invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Health, Physical Education, Wellness and Kinesiology. Georgia Military College focuses on providing learner-centered education that is active and engaging. GMC-Augusta operates on an accelerated quarter system offering five terms per year. This is a full-time, annually renewable faculty position with a teaching load of 18 credit hours per quarter (Fall 1, Fall, Winter, and Spring).  The contract period is for twelve months, 1 July to 30 June, although chair responsibilities are year-round. Teaching is not required during the Summer term. Faculty who teach in the Summer are compensated additionally in accordance with the adjunct faculty pay scale. The position requires open availability day and evening for teaching and other responsibilities to support the needs of our students. Salary and faculty rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications within pay bands.

Qualifications

 

The ideal candidate will be able to teach a full range of classes as appropriate.

Minimum requirements:

  • A Master’s degree in one of the areas listed below or a Master’s degree and 18sh or 30qh of graduate coursework in Health and Physical Education, Health Education, Sports Medicine, Athletic Training, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or Leisure and Outdoor Recreation
  • Teaching experience in higher education
  • Excellent interpersonal/human relations skills, demonstrated excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Applicant must be willing to teach day, evening, and/or weekend courses. Contracts are for up to 12 months; renewable upon availability of classes and satisfactory job performance.
