We have an opportunity for an Full-time Sr Fitness Specialist and Wellness Coordinator to join our team in providing an unparalleled experience at our employer based Fitness Center located in Ridgefield, CT!

Summary: This role is Monday through Friday - no weekends!

Essential Functions

  • Guide, motivate and provide tools to participants so they may increase physical activity and create lasting behavioral change.
  • Develop one-on-one exercise prescriptions based on fitness assessment, health and fitness history and participant goals.
  • Provide a memorable experience and excellent customer service to our participants and client partners.
  • Assist with the creation and facilitation of fitness based incentive programs, promotional events, wellness activities and recreation offerings.
  • Provide exercise leadership expertise according to the latest American College of Sports Medicine, Exercise Testing and Prescription guidelines.
  • Conduct member recruitment activities, assist with member enrollment and lead new member orientations.
  • Perform basic fitness center administrative duties such as working with and reporting from the membership database system, monitoring member retention program, tracking equipment maintenance and repairs, etc.
  • Circulate fitness floor and engage and assist members with their exercise programs.
  • Provide routine facility monitoring including equipment checks and locker room rounds to ensure member safety.
  • Teach multiple group exercise classes each week.
  • Assist in collecting data and generating reports on fitness center and program metrics.
  • Aid in the onboarding of new fitness center team members.
  • Responsible for strategy and direction of a major component of the fitness center, which could include; coordination of group exercise program, development of recreational league, managing personal training or the internship program, or etc.
  • Support the development of and execution of the site’s strategic plan.
  • Schedule, promote, develop and implement health and wellness programs and activities (i.e. workshops, stop-by-booths, self-guided programs, screenings, health fairs, etc.)
  • Responsible for tracking and collection of outcomes data for individual programs and activities as well as the overall wellness program
  • Foster and maintain positive, effective and long-term client/customer relations
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the marketing and communication plan; create communication materials as needed including e-mail messages, health articles and newsletters, online content and promotional materials such as displays, flyers and bulletin boards
  • Assist in individual and overall wellness program incentive management to maximize enrollment, client engagement and program completion
  • Provides periodic one-on-one client counseling and health education; directing participants to appropriate programs and services such as screenings, coaching, fitness, weight loss, etc
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders (benefits, safety, food services, health carriers, etc.) as appropriate
  • As appropriate, represent the wellness program at internal and external meetings and events
  • Mentor and provide guidance to wellness coordinator role as needed
  • Assist in tracking data, compiling information and generating reports
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or a closely related field is required
  • Personal Training certification from nationally recognized, accredited organization (e.g. ACSM, NASM, NSCA etc.) is preferred
  • Current certification in CPR/AED (hands on program required) and First Aid required
  • Group Exercise Primary certification from nationally recognized organization (e.g. AFFA, ACE, IDEA) is preferred
  • Advanced fitness certification(s) (FMS, Exercise is Medicine, Corrective Specialist, etc.) preferred. 


Experience:

  • 2-3 years corporate fitness experience



Knowledge and Skills:

  • Certification from recognized industry organization (i.e. IAWHP, CHES, ACSM, AFAA)
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Web/Internet-based programs
  • Ability to design, develop, deliver and evaluate programs and services
  • Strong verbal and written communication and marketing skills
  • Strong presentation and time management skills
  • Proficient in handling multiple tasks
