Job Description:

Goucher has recently created a new department within the Division of Student Affairs that focuses on student health and wellness.  Reporting to the director of student wellness, the campus recreation coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of a comprehensive campus-wide fitness and wellness program.  The goal of this program is to promote an inclusive campus environment, provide students the tools to achieve a life balance, and build a more engaged campus community.  The incumbent will coordinate the existing club and intramural sports, expand the intramural sport offerings, and create an outdoor and campus recreation program.  This could include group fitness classes, outdoor adventures, and wellness programming.

Qualifications

 

Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in physical education, sport management, recreation, kinesiology, exercise science or related field, at least one year of relevant experience at the collegiate level and first aid and CPR/AED certification.   A fitness certification from a nationally recognized fitness organization (ACE, ACSM, NSCA) is strongly preferred.  The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to identify new trends in recreational activities and be creative in programming.  The candidate must be willing and available to work nights and weekends (as needed) and will be subject to a background check as a condition of employment.
